St Peters vs AFC Willerby B

ST PETERS  3  AFC WILLERBY B  1

St Peters entertained near neighbours AFC Willerby B at Gorton Road with the second promotion spot at stake for both clubs. The visitors had first use of the strong breeze and they had the better of the first half as they kept the home defence under pressure and St Peters had to rely of a couple of excellent saves by their keeper to keep the scores level and Willerby also missed some good chances to take the lead, but it was 0-0 at half time. Allan Tate who came on as half time substitute took only a couple of minutes to make his mark as he scored with his second touch to put the hosts ahead. Around the hour mark St Peters doubled their advantage through Bobby Layton, the response from Willerby was a positive one and only some outstanding defensive work and more saves by the keeper prevented Willerby from getting back into the game. With around fifteen minutes to go Mark Richardson added a third and the game was over as a contest although Adam Newlove did get a consolation goal for Willerby late on.

St Peters vs Springhead Spartans

ST PETERS  0   SPRINGHEAD SPARTANS  1

The local derby at Gorton Road between St Peters and Springhead Spartans was expected to be a close affair and that is exactly how it turned out. Not a great game as the conditions affected both sides but it was highly competitive match with not to many clear cut chances for both sides. it was 0-0 at half time and a second half didn`t see much change as both sides cancelled each other out and it seemed to be heading to a goal less draw until eight minutes from time when the visitors broke the deadlock through their captain Simon Start and then survived the late pressure from St Peters to take the points and the local bragging rights.
