Westella drew 2-2 with Liv last Sunday whilst Blackies were last in action also against Liv who beat them 8-0. The formbook would suggest a home win but that doesn`t always work out that way.

DIVISION TWO

BOTANIC FIRE  V  NEWLAND     HULL UNIVERSITY- REFEREE  ANDREW MCNAUGHT

Botanic Fire go into their home game against Newland knowing a win will see them go top of the table. Botanic beat South Cave 6-1 in their last game whilst Newland drew 4-4 at Hedon Rangers. The sides are amongst the highest scorers in the Division so this should be a good open game.

DIVISION THREE

AFC NORTH  V  HOWDEN    RWB PLAYING FIELD, CUMBRIAN WAY, NORTH BRANSHOLME- REFEREE  KEVIN PICK

AFC North play just their second home game of the season when they welcome Howden to the RWB. GILBERDYKE PHOENIX   V  HULL ATHLETIC  INGS VIEW PLAYING FIELD, GILBERDYKE- REFEREE MATT MITCHELL

It is second versus third as Gilberdyke Phoenix host Hull Athletic in a vital game for both sides as they look to keep on the heels of leaders Brigg Town. The home side won 4-1 at Malt Shovel Selby two weeks ago, Hull Athletic who are still unbeaten this season drew 2-2 at home to AFC North last time out. This should be a closely contested game.

GREAT DRIFFIELD B  V  AFC WILLERBY A   CEMETERY LANE, DRIFFIELD- REFEREE NEIL WOODCOCK

Two of the bottom three meet at Cemetery Lane as Great Driffield B entertain AFC Willerby A. The hosts got their first win of the season when they beat Howden 4-3 a fortnight ago, on the same afternoon Willerby were being hammered 8-0 by leaders Brigg Town and they will want to respond to that heavy loss and they are more than capable of doing so.

Two sides who had very contrasting results two weeks ago meet at Brough as Blackburn Leisure B.take on Brandesburton The home side will be looking to bounce back from losing 7-3 at St Peters two weeks ago whilst Brandesburton have had back to back wins the most recent being a 3-2 home win against Drum. Hessle Rangers will look to build on their impressive 5-0 win at leaders Molescroft Rangers A last time out when they take on North Ferriby Sporting at Haltemprice Sports Centre. The home side won 5-3 at North Ferriby Sporting which saw them end the day joint top of the table whilst St Peters got their first win of the campaign after beating Blackburn Leisure B 7-3 at home. This should be a wide open game in their first ever meeting.

DIVISION FIVE

AAK S+S   V  TICKTON     BISHOP BURTON COLLEGE- REFEREE   JEFF SMITH KICK OFF 2-15PM

Third placed AAK S+S take on neighbours Tickton who are one place and one point above them at Bishop Burton College. AAK last played a month ago when they were beaten 4-1 by Leven. The visitors last game was a 3-2 win against Spartans. Both sides need a win to keep the pressure on leaders Leven.

GOAT FC  V  GIPSYVILLE BOSUN   BRIDLINGTON SPORTS CLUB, MUIRFIELD ROAD, BRIDLINGTON- REFEREE PAUL WARREN

Goat FC who have seen their early season promise disappear recently welcome Gipsyville Bosun to Bridlington Sports club hoping to get back to winning ways. Goat were hammered 9-2 against Leven last time out whilst Bosun last played at the beginning of October when they beat Tickton 4-1. This should be a good open game between two of the divisions top scorers.

SPARTANS  V  MOLESCROFT RANGERS B    HULL UNIVERSITY- REFEREE CAN UGAN

Two of the bottom three meet at Hull University as Spartans take on Molescroft Rangers B. Spartans were beaten by the odd goal in five against Tickton and the visitors beat Swanland B 4-3 two weeks back. Both sides have been very inconsistent so far this season so this is game which is really difficult to predict an outcome.

SWANLAND B  V  LEVEN    BLOSSOM CLOSE, WEST LEYS ROAD, SWANLAND -REFEREE GARY HALLETT

Swanland B who have found the going very difficult after doing the double last season and find themselves bottom of the table have a visit from the table topping Leven side. The home side with a bare eleven went down 4-3 at the hands of Molescroft Rangers B in their last game whilst Leven hammered Goat FC 9-2 to top the table.

DIVISION SIX

HORNSEA TOWN  V  NORTHERN WANDERERS B   ATWICK ROAD, HORNSEA- REFEREE GED STEAD

Hornsea Town host Northern Wanderers B knowing a win will take them within two points of leaders East Hull Sporting. They drew 3-3 at Little Weighton in their last game for Northern they have only played twice this season the last one being also against Little Weighton who they beat 6-3. This is a contest between two of the best defences in the division so a goal fest isn`t on the cards.

OVER 50`S DIVISION EAST

HEDON RANGERS  V  HORNSEA TOWN    SOUTH HOLDERNESS COLLEGE, PRESTON- REFEREE  LEE NOBLE

Hedon Rangers and Hornsea Town meet for the second time in a month when they go head to head at South Holderness. The previous encounter at Hornsea in a league and cup double header saw Hedon win an eleven goal thriller 7-4 and no doubt the return fixture will be another open affair.

NORTH FERRIBY  V  BRIDLINGTON TOWN ROVERS    VERSA SPORTSWEAR STADIUM, CHURCH ROAD, NORTH FERRIBY- REFEREE TBC

North Ferriby welcome Bridlington Town Rovers to the Versa Sportswear Stadium in their first home game of the season. Ferriby were beaten 3-1 at Preston United in their only outing so far. Brid have also only played once this season when they beat Hedon Rangers 5-3 these two old rivals should produce a decent game.

Wildcards, matches mutually re-arranged and weather related postponements

Hello all,

There appears to be some confusion recently surrounding games which don`t take place on the scheduled date, so let me outline what is the official position.

WILDCARDS

Every team has the ability use one wildcard per season, provided you give a minimum of 14 days notice to me and your opponents. You cannot use them after 31st March. If you use a wildcard, the game you didn`t play must be re-arranged and played within 28 days of the original date. If the game doesn`t get played within the 28 days the Veterans League Committee will decide the outcome of the game.

MUTALLY AGREED POSTPONEMENTS

If you and your opponents mutually agree to re-arrange a  game, then the game must be played  within 28 days of the original date. If the game doesn`t get played within the 28 days again the Veterans League Committee will decide the outcome of the game.

WEATHER RELATED POSTPONEMENTS

If a game is postponed because of the weather, ie waterlogged or frozen pitches then the game must be re-arranged before the return fixture otherwise the return fixture will be played for six points. If there is no return fixture to be played then the game can be mutually re-arranged. If no agreement can be made, I will set a none negotiable date. The 28 day rule doesn`t apply to weather related postponements.

I hope that clarifies the situation.

Jeff

Symonds & Greenham top of Premier Division, East Hull Sporting make it four from four in Division Six on horrible afternoon

A combination of Hull City v Brentford, the start of half term and Storm Boelo meant just four of the twelve scheduled games went ahead on a wild and windy afternoon. All eight teams deserve credit for battling away in horrendous conditions.

SYMONDS & GREENHAM  3  WATERLOO   0

Symonds and Greenham entertained Waterloo at Sir Henry Cooper Park looking to preserve their 100% record and they did just that courtesy of a 3-0 win which sees them end the day top of the table. The home side had the wind at their backs in the first half and went into half time 3-0 up after taking full advantage of the conditions. In the second half Waterloo were unable to match what Symonds had done in the first half and failed to reduce the arrears as the hosts ran out deserved winners. The scorers were Mark Friston, Tony Tummon and an own goal.

WESTELLA WILLERBY  2   LIV   2

Westella Willerby playing just their second game of the season and their first at Hilltop took on Liv looking for their first points of the season.  Throw back game with the wind howling down hill Westella & Willerby turned LIV around and elected to go uphill and against the wind 1st half. LIV went 2-0 up before a great strike from the edge of the box from James Cunningham made the score 2-1 at the break. Westella equalised straight after the break from a Jonny Slater free kick but neither team could find a winner in the treacherous wind.

A tight first half saw East Hull come in 2-1 up after two goals from John Mawer. In the second half, East Hull controlled the game and a fine finish from Karl Lyon made it 3-1. However a goal against the run of play saw Little Weighton make it 3-2. and a very tight affair with 30 mins to play. Eventually East hull scored 4 in the last 20 minutes to run away with it although the final score was probably a little harsh on the visitors. The late goals coming from Barrie Duffill, Chris King, Matty Kerr and Ricky Pinder.

EASINGTON UNITED   V  PRIORY    LOW FARM, BECK STREET, EASINGTON- REFEREE GED STEAD

John McDonald

It is with regret that we have to announce the passing of John McDonald the long time Secretary of Brigg Town Veterans team. He lost his brave battle with cancer earlier this week.

We send our condolences to his family and friends and all at Brigg Town for their sad loss.

Liv top Premier Division, Botanic lead Division Two, Brigg Town clear in Division Three, Molescroft Rangers A still top of Division Four despite heavy defeat, Leven head Division Five and Bilton go top of Division Six on a day when 111 goals are scored in 18 games

On a bright and breezy afternoon there were 18 games played across all eight of our Divisions as a number of re-arranged games took place.

PREMIER DIVISION

LIV  1   WATERLOO  0

Last Sunday Liv and Waterloo scored 11 goals between them so when they met at Haworth Park it was suggested that would mean plenty of goals this week too. It didn`t turn out that way as there was only a single goal which was enough to secure the three points for Liv.  Waterloo had a number of regulars missing and were reduced to ten men and had a man in the sin bin inside the first half hour battled away but went down to a Ricci Hunter effort.  This result sees Liv end the day top of the Premier Division Table.

DIVISION TWO

BOTANIC FIRE  6  SOUTH CAVE  1

In another re-arranged game Botanic Fire hosted South Cave at Hull University knowing a win would see them go top of the table. They duly got the three points after a blistering start which saw them 3-0 ahead inside the first 15 minutes. The shell shocked Cave outfit which contained three over 50`s settled into the game before a superb team move saw the home side go into half time 4-0 up. A brilliant thirty yard strike from Tom Love gave Cave some hope as they enjoyed a good spell but Botanic added two more goals to run out 6-1 winners.  Scorers for Botanic were Ben Davy 2, Shaun Ransom 2, Ben Sugden and Josh Carter.

DIVISION THREE

AFC WILLERBY A   0  BRIGG TOWN  8

AFC Willerby A welcomed Brigg Town to Wolfreton College expecting a difficult afternoon and that is exactly whet they got. The first twenty minutes or so were even but by half time Brigg were leading 3-0 after Chris Thornton 2 and Mark Pemberton scored. They added a further five in the second half as Thornton 2 and Pemberton scored again along with efforts from Matt Holmes and Zahir Haque as they remained top of the table.

HULL ATHLETIC  2   AFC NORTH   2

Hull Athletic met AFC North at Sirius Academy and the two sides shared four goals and the points after a 2-2 draw. AFC North opened the scoring when Mike Heys curled a shot from the edge of the box into the top corner after which the game was end to end before the home side equalised through Carl Giblin and it was 1-1 at half time. Hull Athletic started the second half well but failed to take their chances until Sylvain Fleury put them back in the lead. With ten minutes remaining Jamie Waller grabbed a leveller for North and then both sides went looking for the winner but there were no further goals. Both sides felt referee Nick Hunt had an excellent game in what was a physical encounter.

HOWDEN  3  GREAT DRIFFIELD B   4

Howden hosted a Great Driffield B side still looking for its first points and indeed their first goal of the season. The home side struggled to get anything going in a disappointing first half which saw Driffield deservedly 2-0 up at half time. Carl Woodbridge got Howden back in the game but the visitors soon restored their two goal advantage when some poor defending from a corner led to a third for Driffield. Soon after it was 4-1 before Craig Wilson and then a superb strike from Woodbridge brought the score to 4-3 but Driffield held out for a deserved win. Driffield scorers were Hugh Broughton 2, Scott Hosey and Martin Terry.

MALT SHOVEL SELBY   1  GILBERDYKE PHOENIX  4

A local derby of sorts at Dennison Road saw Malt Shovel Selby entertain Gilberdyke Phoenix. The visitors got off to fast start with two Will Butterill goals putting them 2-0 up but Malt Shovel halved the deficit before the break. In the second half Gilberdyke were in control but couldn`t put the game to bed until a fantastic finish from Craig Wilson made it 3-1 before an own goal sealed the win for second placed Gilberdyke.

DIVISION FOUR

BRANDESBURTON  3  DRUM  2

Two sides who opened their account last time out met at Catwick Lane as Brandesburton took on Drum. The first thirty minutes were fairly even with Drum having plenty of the ball but the home side looked dangerous on the counter. Brandesburton broke the deadlock when Phil Wells headed home a corner and it was 2-0 when James Sugden scored after the referee played a good advantage. Drum started the second half well and pulled a goal back through Jamie Willerton after a good move. As the visitors pushed forward looking for an equaliser they were soon two goals behind again after a second from Wells. When Steve Remy made it 3-2 Brandesburton endured a nervous last ten minutes but they held out for back to back wins.

MOLESCROFT RANGERS A  0   HESSLE RANGERS  5

Top of the table Molescroft Rangers A took on Hessle Rangers at Hull University looking for a fourth successive win but it certainly did not work out that way. The first thirty minutes was an even affair before Hessle took the lead with a blockbuster of a goal from Mally Osindeinde and a couple of minutes from half time they made it two nil with a majestic back post header. When Osindeinde got his second of the game Hessle were in full control and a further goals from Andy Speed made it a day to remember for the visitors as they got their first win of the campaign.

NORTH FERRIBY SPORTING 3    MW MAGPIES  5

It was second versus third at South Hunsley as North Ferriby Sporting went head to head with MW Magpies. An even first half saw the sides level at 1-1 with Andy Bradley with the Ferriby goal. The visitors went 2-1 ahead before Charlie Smithson equalised for the home side. Magpies regained the lead at 3-2 before Ollie Burns levelled things up for Ferriby at 3-3. As Ferriby tired the visitors took control and added two further goals to run out 5-3 winners.

ST PETERS  7   BLACKBURN LEISURE B  3

Two sides at the wrong end of the table met at Haltemprice Sports Centre as St Peters took on Blackburn Leisure B. It was a goal laden affair with St Peters getting their first win of the season 7-3. Their goals coming from Sean Rispin 3, Rob Layton 2, Ben Brooke and Steve Harrod. Blackies goals were scored by Antony Owen, Gary Baldy and Matty Holmes.

DIVISION FIVE

LEVEN  9   GOAT FC  2

Goat FC made the short journey down the A165 to take on Leven and for the second game in a row they were well beaten. It finished 9-2 to Leven who after losing their first game of the season have bounced back with three successive wins and they end the day top of the table. Scorers for Goat were Nathan Bristow and Jason Coultas.  Hat tricks for Marcus Pickering and Scott Manterfield along with Rob Northern 2 and Martin Hatto with the goals for Leven

MOLESCROFT RANGERS B  4    SWANLAND B  3

Molescroft Rangers B faced a  Swanland B side with a bare eleven at Bishop Burton College. After losing to Swanland narrowly three times last season including the Division Six Cup Final their win today will avenge some of those memories. They were pushed all the way by the visitors who scored through Stephenson, Harrison and Coulson. Molescroft goals coming from Aaron Bulman 2, Danny Towle and Gordon Adie.

TICKTON  3  SPARTANS  2

Tickton welcomed Spartans to Beverley Longcroft and it was the home side who took the points after an odd goal in five win which sees them move up to second in the table. Jon Watson put Tickton ahead in the first half. Andy Brown made it 2-0 early in the second half before Spartans reduced the arrears. Joe Coates made it 3-1 soon after with Spartans getting a second just before the final whistle

DIVISION SIX

BILTON   3   NORTHERN WANDERERS B  2

Bilton who had won their opening two games took on Northern Wanderers B at Bilton Playing Field in this re-arranged game. Bilton created some early chances after the visitors started slowly but it was Northern who opened the scoring when Liam Hathway scored with a delightful chip over the keeper from a tight angle but the home side were level by half time. Early in the  second half Bilton went in front for the first time and they doubled their advantage after Northern were reduced to ten men . The visitors kept going and when Stephen Sharp made it 3-2 they were back in the game and came close to equalising late on. Special mention goes to Matty Turner the Northern keeper who made a series of fine saves. Darren Thompson 2 and Ash Newall with the  Bilton goals.

PRIORY  4    AFC WILLERBY B   1

There was another re-arranged game at Pride Park as Priory faced AFC Willerby B in a League and Cup double header. Two goals from Chris Laws, a Dean Bullfield penalty and an own goal were enough to see Priory get their first win of the season and also a place in the quarter finals of the Divisional Cup. Chris Thirkettle scored the Willerby goal.

OVER 50`S DIVISION WEST

SWANLAND  1   LOUTH  7

Swanland took on Louth with a depleted squad and paid the price as the visitors ran out 7-1 winners in their first game of the season. Martin Leake put Swanland ahead before Louth got control of the game before half time when they led 2-1. As hard as Swanland battled they were no match in the second half as the visitors added five unanswered goals. South Cave have had a difficult start to life back in Division Two and they also played Hedon in their last game going down 4-2 so the form book would suggest a home win.

Two sides who got their first win of the season last time out meet at Catwick Lane as Brandesburton play Drum. Brandesburton won a nine goal thriller against Hessle Rangers last weekend whilst Drum beat St Peters two weeks back. MOLESCROFT RANGERS A   V  HESSLE RANGERS   HULL UNIVERSITY, INGLEMIRE LANE- REFEREE ANDREW MCNAUGHT

It is top versus joint bottom when Molescroft Rangers A entertain Hessle Rangers at Hull University. The home side beat North Ferriby Sporting 5-2 in their last game for Hessle they were beaten 5-4 by Brandesburton last Sunday they have no problem scoring but have a defence which is guilty of giving their opposition too many chances and with Molescroft the top scorers in the division they have a tough afternoon in prospect.

NORTH FERRIBY SPORTING   V  MW MAGPIES    SOUTH HUNSLEY SCHOOL, MELTON- REFEREE NEIL HAMBLY

Both North Ferriby Sporting and Market Weighton Magpies lost last time out as they lost their 100% records and they will want to get back to winning ways when they meet at South Hunsley. The hosts were beaten 5-2 by leaders Molescroft Rangers A whilst the Magpies went down 3-2 against Blackburn Leisure B at Brough.

LEVEN  V  GOAT FC    SPORTS HALL & PLAYING FIELD, LEVEN- REFEREE GED STEAD

Leven beat AAK S+S at Bishop Burton 4-1 whilst Goat went down to their first defeat of the season when they were beaten 5-1 at home by Molescroft Rangers B a fortnight ago. The sides are amongst the top scorers so this one will not be without goalmouth action.

MOLESCROFT RANGERS B   V  SWANLAND B    BISHOP BURTON COLLEGE-REFEREE TBC

Both Molescroft Rangers B and Swanland B were promoted from Division Six last season but have found the higher division a much harder proposition. The home side got their first win of the season when they won 5-1 at Goat FC in their last game. Swanland still seek that first win and currently sit bottom of the table after losing 7-3 against Spartans but they will recall that they won both encounters last season 2-1 and another close game is on the cards.

TICKTON  V  SPARTANS    LONGCROFT SCHOOL, BEVERLEY- REFEREE GEORG DELA SAGA

Tickton will be looking to bounce back from losing 4-1 against Gipsyville Bosun when they welcome Spartans to Longcroft School. Spartans had their first three points of the season last time out after an impressive 7-3 win at Swanland B. The two sides are much better going forward than defending so an open encounter is likely.

DIVISION SIX

BILTON  V  NORTHERN WANDERERS B   PLAYING FIELD, MAIN ROAD, BILTON- REFEREE LEE NOBLE

Bilton put their 100% record on the line when they host Northern Wanderers B at Main Road knowing that if they win they will end the day top of the table. Northern also have a 100% record having played just the once so far this season a 6-3 win against Little Weighton a month ago. Bilton also beat Little Weighton last time out a bit more comfortably by 11-1.

PRIORY   V  AFC WILLERBY B   PRIDE PARK, FIRST LANE, ANLABY- REFEREE GARY HALLETT

Priory have lost both of their games so far, the most recent being 5-0 against East Hull Sporting and currently sit bottom of the table. The visitors drew 4-4 at Easington United their only game so far this season. So three points and a place in the Quarter Finals of the cup are the reward for a win for either side.

Waterloo entertained Bottesford Town at Bishop Burton College in the first ever meeting between the sides. The visitors opened the scoring through Barrie Duffill and added a second before half time John Mawer then played a through ball to Gary Allen, whose shot hit the post before rebounding off a defender and finding the net to make it 2-0. That’s how it stayed until half-time. East Hull continued their dominance after the break, with Gary Allen squaring the ball across for Ricky Pinder to finish with ease and make it 3-0. The game was put beyond doubt when another superb cross from Allen was slotted home by John Mawer to make it 4-0. Barham grabbed a late consolation goal but East Hull keep their 100% record intact.

11th October 2026 Preview

This Sunday sees the first of probably quite a number of Hull City Premier League games taking place on a Sunday. As a result we have a reduced programme. it is also likely that in those games which do go ahead will be without a number of players who will be missing as they attend the game.

PREMIER DIVISION

Two sides who have only played one game so far this season meet at Brough as Blackburn Leisure A take on Liv. Blackies were beaten 6-1 by Waterloo a month ago when several of their regulars were missing. Liv drew 2-2 with Swanland A the same day. Swanland A welcome Symonds and Greenham to South Hunsley looking for their first win of the season. Both Waterloo and Bottesford Town are playing just their second game of the campaign when they meet at Leconfield on Sunday. They both won their first game with comfortable home wins, Waterloo beat Blackburn Leisure A 6-1 whilst Bottesford won 5-2 against Swanland A, so this could be a high scoring open encounter.
