DIVISION TWO

BRIDLINGTON TOWN ROVERS  2   NEWLAND  2

Originally scheduled for early September Bridlington Town Rovers and Newland met at Gypsey Road and they shared four goals and the points after a 2-2 draw as both sides got their first point of the season.  Brid led 2-0 at half time but a second half comeback from Newland when two goals from Dan Fryer earned them a well earned point.

DIVISION THREE

AFC NORTH  V  MALT SHOVEL SELBY  MATCH POSTPONED CONCEDED BY MALT SHOVEL SELBY

BRIGG TOWN  4  GREAT DRIFFIELD B  0

It was top against bottom at the EC Surfacing Stadium as Brigg Town entertained Great Driffield B and the form book was followed on this occasion. Brigg started slowly but as they increased the tempo they found themselves 3-0 up at half time after a double from Chris Thornton and a Will Hartley strike. The second half was much more even as both sides created chances before Thornton completed his hat trick to give a final score of 4-0.

GILBERDYKE PHOENIX  6   AFC WILLERBY A   2

After losing their last game Gilberdyke Phoenix were looking to respond when they took on AFC Willerby A at Ings View. A dominant first half display saw them lead 3-1 at half time. Andy Jackson and a couple from Liam Bell whilst Kev Fenton replied for Willerby. A similar story in the second half saw the hosts score another three times through Craig Cockin 2 and Matty Smith with Rob Kennington replying for the visitors.

HULL ATHLETIC  1   HOWDEN  1

Unbeaten Hull Athletic playing their first home game of the season faced Howden at Sirius Academy. This was an even game throughout a goal less first half which saw Ash Taylor hit the bar for Howden. Hull Athletic got on top in the first part of the second half and they took the lead after a corner. Undeterred Howden through caution to the wind and when Oscar Carver set up Craig Wilson to celebrate his 40th birthday with a goal which brought Howden their first point of the season on their return to the Veterans League.

DIVISION FOUR

BLACKBURN LEISURE B 3  MW MAGPIES  2

Blackburn Leisure B took on joint top Market Weighton Magpies at Brough looking for their first win of the campaign and a late goal saw them do just that after a five goal thriller. It was 1-1 at half time  after Blackies were awarded a penalty before the Magpies equalised and in the second half Blackies went 3-1 up and then it was backs to the wall as the visitors pulled a goal back and then an outstanding display from Ben Robinson their Over 50`s keeper prevented an equaliser as Blackies held out for a 3-2 win. Blackies goals from Mike  Hewitt 2 and Mark Willows.

DRUM  2    ST PETERS  0

On a difficult Costello pitch near neighbours Drum and St Peters met with both sides looking for their first win of the season. Both keeper made good saves early on before Steve Remy opened the scoring for the home side as he latched onto a fine through ball and finished well after twenty minutes. Ten minutes before half time Remy got his second from close range after good work down the left. There were no further goals in the second half although both sides had several chances. Stand in keeper for Drum Rob Kamis made a number of fine saves as St Peters looked to get back in the game. But it was one of those afternoons for them as they saw three efforts hit the bar and two other chances cleared of the line in the same attack

The visitors went ahead after ten minutes through Tom McDonald but by half time they found themselves 3-1 down after goals from Ed Staples, Alex Arnott with a header and Ben Wingfield. Molescroft continued to dominate and further goals from Matty Carr and a second for Staples saw them 5-1 ahead before Charlie Smithson grabbed a late consolation effort for Ferriby. Molescroft end the day three points clear at the top of the table.

AAK S+S took on Leven at Bishop Burton College looking for a third successive win but it didn`t turn out that way as the visitors made it back to back wins after a 4-1 success.  Mark Carson with the AAK goal.

GIPSYVILLE BOSUN  4   TICKTON  1

With their usual home pitch at Costello ruled unfit Gipsyvile Bosun and Tickton had to relocate to another pitch before their game could go ahead. Bosun won 4-1 and they are one of four teams on six points in the table. Bosun had much the better of the first half and went into half time leading 3-0 after goals from Jack Carroll, Daniel Hughes and Kev Holgate. Danny Brigham added a second half goal before Tickton got a late consolation goal by Jon Watson.

GOAT FC   1  MOLESCROFT RANGERS B   5

Goat FC and Molescroft Rangers B met at the Bridlington Sports and Community Club in this top versus bottom clash. DIVISION THREE

AFC NORTH  V  MALT SHOVEL SELBY   RWB PLAYING FIELD CUMBRIAN WAY, NORTH BRANSHOLME- REFEREE  PAUL BROOKS  MATCH POSTPONED- CONCEDED BY MALT SHOVEL SELBY

Two sides coming off defeats in their last game meet at the RWB as AFC North take on Malt Shovel Selby. North were beaten 3-1 at AFC Willerby A whilst Selby went down 3-1 at home to Hull Athletic so both will be looking to get back to winning ways in what should be a highly competitive affair.

BRIGG TOWN  V  GREAT DRIFFIELD B       EC SURFACING STADIUM, WRAWBY ROAD, BRIGG- REFEREE   STEVEN BALDWIN

Brigg Town welcome Great Driffield B to the EC Surfacing Stadium in their first home game of the season looking for a third successive win. They won 3-2 at Gilberdyke Phoenix last Sunday but for the visitors it is the opposite story as they have played twice and have suffered two heavy defeats and have yet to score a single goal. They were beaten 6-0 by Gilberdyke Phoenix a fortnight back and the formbook would suggest a comfortable home win but you never know.

GILBERDYKE PHOENIX   V  AFC WILLERBY A    INGS PLAYING FIELD, GILBERDYKE- REFEREE  ELLIS DOUGLAS MATT MITCHELL

Gilberdyke Phoenix will want to bounce back from going down 3-2 to a late goal against Brigg Town at home last Sunday when they entertain AFC Willerby A at Ings View. Willerby beat AFC North 3-1 in their last match. This will be a good open game between two sides who look to get forward at every opportunity.

HULL ATHLETIC   V  HOWDEN     SIRIUS ACADEMY, PICKERING ROAD, HULL- REFEREE  KEVIN PICK

Two new sides this season meet at Sirius Academy as Hull Athletic and Howden go head to head. They have made contrasting starts with the home side having won both of their games so far both away from home, the most recent being 3-1 at Malt Shovel Selby. For Howden they have found the going tough so far with back to back losses the latest being 6-1 at home to Brigg Town.

DIVISION FOUR

BLACKBURN LEISURE B  V  MW MAGPIES    SKILLINGS LANE, BROUGH- REFEREE  JOHN SUTTON  TBC

Blackburn Leisure B face a difficult task when the take on MW Magpies at Skillings Lane. The visitors have started their first season in style with two wins from two, the latest being a 5-2 home win against Drum. Blackies were beaten 5-1 at North Ferriby Sporting two weeks ago and they will need to improve on that performance if they are to get anything from the game.

DRUM    V  ST PETERS    COSTELLO PLAYING FIELD- REFEREE   ANDREW MCNAUGHT

There is a local derby at Costello as near neighbours Drum and St Peters meet. Drum have found the going tough so far after being promoted and they were beaten 5-2 at MW Magpies last time out. St Peters have also struggled but they got their first point of the season after drawing 3-3 with Hessle Rangers in their most recent game.

HESSLE RANGERS   V  BRANDESBURTON     MATCH POSTPONED- BRANDESBURTON USING THEIR WILDCARD

MOLESCROFT RANGERS A   V  NORTH FERRIBY SPORTING   HULL UNIVERSITY, INGLEMIRE LANE- REFEREE  JEFF SMITH

Two of the three sides boasting 100% records meet at Hull University as Molescroft Rangers A take on North Ferriby Sporting. Molescroft won 8-2 at Brandesburton a fortnight back whilst Ferriby had a 5-1 win against Blackburn Leisure B. What a game is in prospect as the two highest scorers face the two best defences. If their is a winner they will top the table come Sunday evening.

AAK beat Molescroft Rangers B 4-0 last time out whilst Leven got their first win after coming from 1-0 down to beat Gipsyville Bosun 4-1. This first ever meeting between the sides should be a decent game.

GIPSYVILLE BOSUN   V  TICKTON   COSTELLO PLAYING FIELD- REFEREE  GEORG DELA SAGA

After being beaten 4-1 by Leven two weeks ago Gipsyville return to action with a home game against Tickton at Costello. The visitors are unbeaten so far after they drew 3-3 with Swanland B in their last game. This is another game which is a hard one to call with both sides wanting to keep in touch with the top two sides.

GOAT FC   V  MOLESCROFT RANGERS B   BRIDLINGTON SPORTS AND SOCIAL CLUB, MUIRFIELD ROAD, BRDILINGTON- REFEREE  NEIL HAMBLY

It is joint top versus joint bottom at the Bridlington Sports and Social Club as Goat FC take on Molescroft Rangers B. Goat have scored sixteen times in their two games with ten of them coming against Spartans in their 10-3 win. Molescroft have had a disappointing start to the season losing both games so far the latest being a 4-0 home defeat against AAK S+S and they will face a huge task to get their first points of the season.

Over the years Gilberdyke Phoenix and Brigg Town have produced a series of highly competitive and close encounters and this afternoon`s encounter was no exception in a game originally scheduled for the opening day of the season. Will Hartley put the visitors in front and they led 1-0 at half time. early in the second half the home side equalised through Craig Cockin inside the first five minutes. A penalty from Dan Greaves restored the lead for Brigg but a kind deflection from Dave McMahon produced another Phoenix equaliser. Another debutant Khlye Hodgins made it 2-0 after half an hour and that was the half time score. Easington with the conditions now in their favour scored three times inside the first eleven minutes of the second half to lead 3-2 and they added a fourth with twenty minutes to go and looked like the points were theirs. However with five minutes to go Bobby Dures made it 4-3 and with a minute to go Pete Padley rescued a point for Willerby.  Chris Frost with a hat trick and Gav Thurkettle with the Easington goals.

EAST HULL SPORTING  5  PRIORY  0

East Hull Sporting had to move their home game against Priory to Andrew Marvell School as their pitch was unfit but the change of venue did not prevent East Hull from recording back to back wins. They started well and broke deadlock on fifteen minutes when Lewis Medley found the bottom corner. Ricky Pinder with his first touch of the ball made it 2-0 and former Priory player Barrie Duffill made it 3-0. Priory had a great chance to reduce the arrears when they were awarded a penalty but Adam McDonald the East Hull keeper pulling off a superb save to keep it at 3-0 at half time. Easington United welcome AFC Willerby B to Low Farm hoping to avoid back to back home defeats after losing 3-2 against newcomers East Hull Sporting in their first game. 80 goals are scored in thirteen games as Goat hit ten and Molescroft A score eight as away sides dominate

On a bright and breezy afternoon thirteen games went ahead in Divisions 3,4 and 5 plus the first Over 50`s fixture of the season

DIVISION THREE

AFC WILLERBY A  3  AFC NORTH  1

AFC Willerby A entertained AFC North at Wolfreton College looking to bounce back from losing last Sunday but they couldn`t have got off to a worse start going behind inside two minutes. However a minute later they were back on level terms through Mike Wardell. Both sides were missing key players and maybe that was the main reason for chances at both ends being missed. Willerby went in front on the stroke of half time when Nath Nuttall netted. In the second half the visitors dominated the early stages but were unable to get an equaliser and the points were secured when Adam Newlove made it 3-1 with ten minutes remaining.

GREAT DRIFFIELD B  0  GILBERDYKE PHOENIX  8

Great Driffield B playing their first home game welcomed Gilberdyke Phoenix to Cemetery Lane with the visitors playing their first game of the season. The first twenty minutes were fairly even with neither side able to break the deadlock. Five minutes later Simon Clark put Phoenix ahead and as they got control new signing Craig Cockin doubled their lead as they were 2-0 up at half time. In the second half it was Gilberdyke who dominated throughout and they added four unanswered goals from a second from Cockin, two from Dave McMahon and a Will Butterill header.

HOWDEN  1   BRIGG TOWN   6

Howden in their opening home game of the season faced a Brigg Town side who were playing their first game of the campaign. Brigg raced into a three goal lead in the first fifteen minutes with all three goals scored by Chris Thornton. The game began to even up and Howden managed to pull a goal back through Craig Wilson but Zaheer Haque soon restored their three goal lead. In the second half the visitors added two further goals with Thornton getting his fourth of the game and a Dan Greaves penalty. Despite the scoreline being emphatic it wasn`t the one sided affair suggested as the Brigg keeper had to make some decent saves along with his Howden counterpart.

MALT SHOVEL SELBY  1  HULL ATHLETIC  3

Two sides who won their opening game faced each other at Denison Road as Malt Shovel Selby took on Hull Athletic. The visitors made it two wins from two with a 3-1 scoreline. Their goals coming from Elvis Kadric, Lee Cooper and Richard Scott. Dan Tame with Selby goal.

DIVISION FOUR

BRANDESBURTON   2  MOLESCROFT RANGERS A  8

Brandesburton entertained Molescroft Rangers A at Catwick Lane and they started the game well but were unable to convert any of their chances. They fell behind after an error which saw Ben Wingfield put the visitors ahead. Not deterred the hosts scored twice in quick succession the first when Phil Wells ran from the halfway line and finished well followed by a Josh Stevens effort to put them 2-1 up, unfortunately that was as good as it got for the home side as Molescroft were 3-2 ahead at half time as Wingfield completed a well taken hat trick. The second half saw Molescroft take full control and they added five further goals with Wingfield getting two more along with Aaron Bulman, Eddie Staples and Matty Carr to run out 8-2 winners.

MW MAGPIES  5   DRUM  2

MW Magpies started their home campaign at Market Weighton School against Drum. The Magpies made it two wins from two played. Liam Allott put the home side ahead but Drum equalised from the penalty spot via Gary Dickinson before a second from Allott regained the lead for the hosts before Dave Rambo made it 3-1. Allott then completed his hat trick before a great finish from Jamie Sedman saw them 5-1 up before Drum were awarded a second penalty which they converted this time by Steve Remy for a final score of 5-2.

NORTH FERRIBY SPORTING  5  BLACKBURN LEISURE B  1

North Ferriby Sporting hosted near neighbours Blackburn Leisure B at South Hunsley . Mike Tarbotton put the home side ahead after only two minutes when the Blackies keeper hit his clearance against him. Tom McDonald doubled the lead halfway through the first period but Blackies reduced the arrears through Miner for a 2-1 scoreline. In the second half as the visitors tired and lost their keeper to injury Ferriby took control and a fine Glen Caulfield hat trick made the final score 5-1  their second successive win by that score.

ST PETERS  3   HESSLE RANGERS   3

The Gorton Road derby between St Peters and Hessle Rangers finished all square after a 3-3 draw. St Peters opened the scoring after just three minutes and they added a second on twenty five minutes. Just before the half time break Antony Liptrot pulled a goal back for Hessle Rangers. Just like in the first half St Peters scored early on from the penalty spot to lead 3-1. Hessle started to gain control and created numerous chances before Liam Henry produced a glorious left foot strike for 3-2. MOLESCROFT RANGERS B  0  AAK S+S  4

The Bishop Burton College derby between co tenants Molescroft Rangers B and AAK S+S was a tight game for the opening period before Ben Harrison put AAK ahead. The led 2-0 at half time after David Dunn scored and in the second half they added two more through Louis Jonas and Chris Hunt to claim the three points and the local bragging rights.

SPARTANS  3    GOAT FC  1.

Spartans hosted Goat Fc at a very blustery Hull University and the younger visitors took full advantage and some clinical finishing saw them leading 4-0 at the break after two goals each from Billy Simpkins and Nathan Bristow . The home side had plenty of chances in the first half but their finishing was poor. What Spartans needed was a good start to the second half but the exact opposite happened as Ash Cresswell made it 5-0 two minutes into the half. Spartans did pull a goal back when Matt Tuton scored from the penalty spot and after Jay Wallace got the first goal of his hat trick Tuton got a second for Spartans and he also went on to claim a treble but Carl Taylor and a third from Bristow made the final score 10-3 to Goat who have scored sixteen goals in their two opening games.

TICKTON   3  SWANLAND B  3

Tickton welcomed Swanland B to Longcroft School Beverley and the two sides shared six goals and the points after an entertaining 3-3 draw.  Tickton opened the scoring with Jon Watson assisting Andy Brown. not long after Swanland reduced to 10 men with a red card. There is a local derby at South Hunsley as neighbours North Ferriby Sporting and Blackburn Leisure go head to head. So a keen game is on the cards as neither side will want to lose their fist two games.

Leven who were beaten 3-1 by Tickton on their return to the Veterans League after over a decade away take on Gipsyville Bosun. The visitors won a high scoring affair against Molescroft Rangers B 5-4. Another local derby takes place at Bishop Burton College as co-tenants Molescroft Rangers B and AAK S+S meet for the local bragging rights. Molescroft were beaten in a nine goal thriller at Costello losing 5-4 against Gipsyville Bosun whilst AAK had a convincing 6-0 win at home against Spartans. Tickton host Swanland B at Beverley Longcroft hoping for a second successive three points after their 3-1 win at Leven a fortnight back. The first game of the Over 50`s season sees old rivals Blackburn Leisure and Swanland meet at Brough. Hodgsons begin Veterans League life with big win and newcomers Hull Athletic and East Hull Sporting also start with three points.

On a warm afternoon eleven games across four divisions went ahead with four teams starting life in theVeterans league for the first time.

DIVISION TWO

BRIDLINGTON TOWN ROVERS   V  NEWLAND  MATCH POSTPONED- RE-ARRANGED FOR 4TH OCTOBER

GREAT DRIFFIELD A  4  NORTHERN WANDERERS A  2

Great Driffield A welcomed Northern Wanderers A to Cemetery Lane for this league and Preliminary Round Cup game. The visitors opened the scoring through Lewis Cowling in the first half but by half time Driffield were back on level terms at 1-1. The hosts went ahead early in the second half and doubled their advantage after Northern had a goal disallowed. Cowling then reduced the arrears to 3-2 with a screamer from 30 plus yards out. As Northern pushed forward looking for an equaliser they were hit on the break as Driffield made the points and a place in Quarter Finals of the cup safe late on.

HEDON RANGERS  0  BOTANIC FIRE  3

Hedon Rangers started their season with a home game against Botanic Fire at South Holderness. A defensive error and two well taken chances saw Botanic claim the points after a 3-0 win in a scoreline which Hedon didn`t think was a fair reflection of the game although they did feel that Botanic were worthy winners.

HODGSONS   5   SOUTH CAVE  0

Hodgsons started their Veterans League career at Leconfield Recreation club when they took on newly promoted South Cave. Hodgsons started well and soon opened the scoring and their young side caused Cave problems and only good goalkeeping kept the score down to 2-0 at half time. Cave started better in the second half but their final ball let them down and they were unable to reduce the arrears. When what appeared to be a miss hit cross made it 3-0 it was game over and two late goals made it a spectacular start for the newcomers.

DIVISION THREE

AFC WILLERBY A  2   HULL ATHLETIC 3

In a game which was originally scheduled for last weekend but quickly re-arranged AFC Willerby entertained Hull Athletic at Wolfreton College. The visitors who were previously known as Springhead got off to the perfect start when inside the first five minutes went ahead courtesy of an own goal by a Willerby defender. The game was end to end in the first half hour but neither keeper was seriously troubled before the home side equalised through a good finish from Adam Newlove. Athletic regained the lead five minutes bfor the break when a throughball was finished well by Sahin. The visitors keeper was the sin binned for dissent but whilst down to ten men they scored again when a long throw was headed home by Imran Khan to give them a 3-1 lead. In the second half an own goal by a visiting defender brought Willerby back into the game and then they had a man sent off and were up against it with twenty two minutes remaining. A combination of resolute defending and good goal keeping and some very poor finishing enabled them to cling onto their lead and record a well earned win.

DIVISION SIX

BARHAM  1   BILTON  3

There was a local derby at Alderman Kneeshaw Park as Barham took on Bilton. The visitors took the bragging rights after a 3-1 win. Barham went ahead when Steve Wilson chipped the Bilton keeper from 25 yards. Bilton responded very well and put the Barham defence under constant pressure which paid off just before half time when they equalised through Darren Thompson. In the second period Bilton scored twice more via Jordan Powley and Carl Ness to take the points.

EASINGTON UNITED  2  EAST HULL SPORTING  3

Easington United started their season with a home game against newcomers East Hull Sporting at Low Farm. A tight first half saw the visitors have plenty of the ball early on but the home defence stood up to the task. The East Hull keeper was called into action and he made an outstanding double save but shortly after was unable to prevent Chris Frost putting Easington ahead. Gary Allen with great strike into the top corner brought East Hull level by ha;f time. The home side hit the front again on the hour when Frost got his second of the game. A moment of magic from Chris “Maggot” King  made it 2-2 and all to play for with the game looking like ending in a draw. However with under five minutes to play Kieron Darraugh smashed home a twenty yarder to give the visitors a winning start to life in the Veterans League.

NORTHERN WANDERERS B  6  LITTLE WEIGHTON  3

Plenty of goals at Malet Lambert as Northern Wanderers B christened their new home ground with a 6-3 win against Little Weighton. The hosts started well but were unable to take any of the chances they created and then were hit with a double whammy as Little Weighton scored twice in quick succession. The home side halved the deficit before the break through Andy Scammell. Early in the second half the visitors restored their two goal lead to go 3-1 up. Northern responeded brilliantly and two Nick Scott efforts brought them level at 3-3. Little Weighton were awarded a penalty but it was missed and Northern took full advantage and scored three times without reply through Brett Vickers, Sam Owen Green and Scott who completed his hat trick. Special mention for the saves made by Neil Thompson in the Northern goal who kept them in the game. As Northern didn`t win a single game last season this is the perfect start to the new one. Kirk Scargill 2 and an own goal for Little Weighton.

PRIORY   2  HORNSEA TOWN  5

Hornsea Town travelled over to Pride Park to take on Priory in their first game of the season. An open game saw Hornsea come away with all three points after a 5-2 win. Their scorers were Liam Watson, Jamie Foster, Paul Wilson, Joe Hirst and Karl Hill as they got off to a winning start.

East Hull Sporting start their Veterans League career with a trip over to Low Farm to take on Easington United. Will a change of ground be a good move for Northern Wanderers B when they entertain Little Weighton at their new home at Malet Lambert School. MALT SHOVEL SELBY 4  HOWDEN  1

Malt Shovel Selby welcomed neighbours Howden to Denison Road in a local derby. The visitors playing their first game since returning to the Veterans League after a ten year absence went down 4-1. They held out until five minutes before half time when a quick fire double from the hosts saw them lead 2-0 at half time. It became 3-0 from a corner and if not for some fine saves from Ben Astin in the Howden goal it would have been many more. Selby did add a fourth before Carl Woodbridge grabbed a late consolation goal for Howden from the penalty spot in the last minute of the game.

DIVISION FOUR

BRANDESBURTON   1  NORTH FERRIBY SPORTING  5

Brandesburton entertained North Ferriby Sporting at Catwick Lane and it was the visitors who went away with the points. DRUM  2  BLACKBURN LEISURE B  2

Drum after winning Division Five last season started their season with a home game against Blackburn Leisure B at Costello. Drum opened the scoring after twenty minutes after Jamie Willerton finished off a good team move and just before half time Lance Dales made it 2-0. In their first attack of the second half Blackies reduced the arrears when Dan Ewart netted but they looked like going down 2-1 before Chris Lazenby equalised in the last minute to earn them a hard fought point.

HESSLE RANGERS   3  MARKET WEIGHTON MAGPIES  5

There were goals galore at the new 3g pitch at Haltemprice Sports Centre when Hessle Rangers took on the new Market Weighton Magpies team. It took just four minutes for Andy Walker to put Hessle in front after the visitors failed to deal with a long ball. The game was an end to end affair with both sides creating and missing reasonable chances. The home side doubled their lead when Anthony Liptrot made it 2-0 which was the half time score but the Magpies had plenty of chances.

They halved the deficit inside the first couple of minutes through substitute Liam Allott but within five minutes Hessle had restored their two goal advantage when Walker got his second of the game after the Magpies keeper made a great save. Allott got his second after the Hessle keeper was adjuged to let the ball cross the line for 3-2. Both sides went forward at every opportunity and it came as no surprise when the visitors drew level through Nathan Speckley was first to react to an Allott effort was saved. Hessle responded and created a couple of good chances but it was the visitors who scored again through Speckley but not before Hessle had a goal disallowed for offside and then a great save by the Magpies keeper prevented an equaliser. They finally confirmed the win when captain Ben Pearson got a fifth for the visitors to make the final score 3-5.

MOLESCROFT RANGERS A  1  ST PETERS  4

Molescroft Rangers A opened their Division 4 campaign with a visit from former top division side St Peters at Hull University. DIVISION FIVE

AAK S+S   6  SPARTANS  0

AAK S+S took on a under strength Spartans outfit at Bishop Burton College and they showed them no mercy with three goals in each half. Ben Harrison, David Dunn and Allan Hider got the first half goals whilst second half substitute Chris Hunt helped himself to a hat trick on his AAK debut.

GIPSYVILLE BOSUN  5   MOLESCROFT RANGERS B   4

On a difficult pitch at Costello Playing Fields Gipsyville Bosun and Molescroft Rangers B produced a nine goal thriller. The long grass probably contributed to some of the defensive errors by both sides. Bosun had the better of the first period and went 3-0 ahead before Molescroft staged a remarkable comeback and in the second half they were leading 4-3 and they a missed a penalty along the way. Bosun responded and scored a fourth to make it 4-4 and it looked like ending all square only for Bosun to grab a late winner from a corner which was going to be headed away before a deflection saw it go into the net. Scorers for Bosun were Danny Hughes, John Laws, Steve Hassan, Perry Skelton and Danny Brigham whilst for Molescroft Marsel Velia scored a treble with Matty Wort with the other.

LEVEN   1  TICKTON  3

Leven returned to the Veterans League stage after eleven years away with a home game against Tickton but it was the visitors who went away with the points after a 3-1 win.  John Watson gave Tickton a half time lead and they doubled their advantage in the second half after Dteve Wright hit a shot into the top corner. Leven responded well and halved the deficit halfway through the second period before Ben Pollendine converted a penalty after he had been brought down to seal the points for the visitors.

SWANLAND B  2  GOAT FC  6

Swanland B after winning the Division Six double last season started life in the higher division with a home game against Goat FC who were playing their first ever Veterans League game. Swanland took full advantage of a couple of defensive errors by the visitors to lead 2-0. However the fightback from Goat was pretty impressive as they scored six times without reply to open the season with a great win after Nathan Bristow scored five of them along with a Billy Simpson effort.
