Recap

BRIGG TOWN  4  GILBERDYKE PHOENIX  1

The top two in Division Five met as Brigg Town entertained leaders Gilberdyke Phoenix in a vital game for both sides. In blustery conditions the first twenty minutes were fairly even before the home side took the lead when Stuart Longbone scored from a free kick and five minutes later they made it 2-0 through Chris Thornton and they led by this score at the break. It was more of the same in the second half as Brigg remained in control and they added two more goals to lead 4-0 through Danny Longstone and Kieran Blackwell. The visitors kept going band forced the Brigg keeper to make a series of great saves and they finally got some rewards for their efforts as Brigg rotated their players when Dave McMahon grabbed a consolation goal. Gilberdyke still have a four point cushion but Brigg have a game in hand so the title race is likely to go all the way to the end of the season.
