Recap
In a game held over from last weekend Springhead Highway B took on South Cave in a game which was preceded by a minutes silence in respect of Matt Simpson a stalwart of South Cave who tragically passed away a few weeks ago. The first twenty minutes were fairly even with both sides having an equal share of possession but with little goal threat from either side. The deadlock was broken on 27 minutes when the home side were awarded a penalty which Martin Lowthorpe converted. Fiver minutes later the visitors were level when a cross was dropped by the Springhead keeper and Simon Cutsforth poked the ball home from close range for 1-1 which was the half time score. Cave went ahead five minutes into the second half when a superb length of the field move saw Tom Farrow finish well. The visitors were playing some fine football but couldn`t add to their lead and just after the hour the hosts were level when a fine cross from the right was powerfully headed home by Nathan Nuttall for 2-2. Another cross this time form the left caused problems for Cave and a defender in trying to deal with it sliced the ball into his own net to give Springhead the lead again. After his error in the first half Mike Antcliffe in the Springhead goal more than made up for it as he made a series of outstanding saves to preserve the lead and this was added to by some last ditch defending as Cave piled on the pressure in search of a late equaliser which failed to materialise. This was a really entertaining game which could have gone either way.
