SPARTANS  2  MALT SHOVEL SELBY  9

Last week Spartans were on the wrong end of an 8-0 scoreline at leaders Bottesford Town and it didn`t get any better for them when they hosted second placed Malt Shovel Selby at Hull University as they went down 9-2. The visitors went in front after only two minutes after a fine move but Spartans were back on level terms almost straight away following a defensive error. The game produced the unusual feat of Malt Shovel scoring three hat tricks with Darryl Tate, Dan Smith and Kevin Taylor all grabbing trebles. Taylor scored with a cross cum shot for one of his goals but he scored the goal of the game with a twenty five yard volley from a corner a la Paul Scholes at his best. Matt Greensmith and Matt Tuton.
