Recap

Gilberdyke Phoenix fresh from their second win of the season last Sunday faced a much tougher examination with second placed Cottingham Rangers visiting them today. The game was effectively over by half time with Cottingham 4-0 up despite not opening the scoring until twenty five minutes and two of them were penalties. The second half saw Gilberdyke rally and they soon pulled two goals back through Stuart Bell and Dan Smith but they ran out of legs and Cottingham were able to add three unanswered goals to run out 7-2 winners. Allan Tate, Tony Barley and Lee Benham all scored twice with Adam Winfield with the other goal.
