Recap

Molescroft Rangers A got their first win of the season at the sixth attempt when they travelled out to take on Gilberdyke Phoenix. The home side went into the game in a confident mood having themselves claimed their first win last time out. A close first half with few chances for either side saw the teams turn round at 0-0. The early stages of the second half started in the same vane but then Molescroft began to get control and they scored twice in quick succession through Marsel Velia who had caused the home defence all sorts of problems up to that point. Stu Bell halved the deficit for the home side although Molescroft claimed he was off side and this seem to spur on the visitors as they soon restored their two goal lead when Pete Thompson scored with a fine back post header. As Gilberdyke pushed forward looking to reduce the arrears they were caught on the break and when Thompson was brought down in the area Velia scored from the spot to complete his hat trick to make the final score 4-1. A fine start for new manager Steve Harvey who has taken over from the now retired John Uzzell.
