NEWLAND  2  NORTH FERRIBY SPORTING  3

The bottom two sides in Division Three met at St Mary`s College as Newland faced North Ferriby Sporting as both sides looked for their first points of the season. It was a disastrous start for the home side as they found themselves 2-0 down after only five minutes with Mark Collingwood getting both goals. Newland gradually got into the game and they halved the deficit on the half hour from the penalty spot which was put away by Dan Fields on his debut for the club and it was 1-2 at halftime. Newland equalised on the hour through Tom Vulliamy and the game was back in the balance. The fifth and final goal of the game went to North Ferriby when Gaz Welburn scored and whilst they will not be ordering an open top bus they will be mightily relieved to have got the monkey off their back.
