Recap

GILBERDYKE PHOENIX   1    BRIGG TOWN  0

The top two teams in Division Five met as Gilberdyke Phoenix entertained Brigg Town with both sides looking to maintain their 100% starts to the season. In the end just a single goal separated the sides in a game which began in wet and windy conditions. The home side had the better start of the two sides and they went ahead midway through the first half when Luke Gooding produced a good finish into the bottom corner. Brigg recovered well and put the home side under pressure but it remained 1-0 at half time. The second half saw Brigg create a number of chances and it was a combination of poor finishing, resolute defending and some good saves from the Phoenix keeper kept them at bay as the home side saw out the game as Gilberdyke opened up a six point lead at the top of the table.
