Free place in Pre Season Tournament available

There is a Pre Season Tournament being held at Haworth Park on Sunday 2nd August and a free place is available to any interested teams. Please contact John Duffill direct.

A fully paid place is available free of charge in the National Elite Veterans Football Tournament at Haworth Park, Hull, on Sunday 2 August 2026.
 
The competition is 11v11, with a maximum squad of 18 players. Every team will play seven games before the knockout rounds. There is only one free place available.
 
If any suitable team would like a place, please ask them to reply as soon as possible with their team name, manager’s name and mobile number. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
 
Car parking is available on site.

National Elite Football Tournament

AGM Report

The Veterans League AGM was held on Wednesday night 24th June at Blackburn Leisure and the following information will bring you up to date as to what was decided. The proposals below were approved by the AGM.
 

1.                                          Rule 20E (1) Proposed by Botanic Fire

                                         Current Rule :- If a match is conceded the team conceding the game will have three  points deducted from its total as well as                                             the three match points being  awarded to the non-defaulting team.

                                         Proposal: The three points deducted from the offending team should not be imposed in  the event of a match being conceded.                                                                                                                                   Passed
 
                                             Rule 20E (5) Proposed by Botanic Fire

                                           Current Rule: Each team will have the use of one wildcard per season to postpone a game provided that the application is                                                   made 28 days prior to the date requested.

                                          Proposal: Shorten the 28 day ruling to 14 days as at our age and with injuries etc we don`t know 28 days before, that we need                                              to use a  wildcard.                                                         Passed

                                          Proposed by the Veterans League Committee
 
 
                                           Current Rule: Team sheets must be provided to your opposition and the  match referee prior to kick off
 
                                         Proposal: Abolish the requirement to complete team sheets as many teams  do not obey this rule and many referees do not                                                ask for a copy. The number of teams playing ineligible players has actually gone up despite the  introduction of team sheets.                                                                                                                                           Passed
 

                                         Current Rule:  Any club unable to fulfil a fixture or where a match has been  Postponed for any reason must, without delay,                                             inform the League Secretary and the Referees Appointment Secretary and the opposition team  Secretary.                 

                                        Proposal:  Both clubs must without delay……               Passed
 
                                   Current Rule: Each team will have the use of one wildcard per season to postpone a game provided the application is made at                                           least 28 days prior to the date requested.
  
                                    Proposal:   If a wildcard is used the scheduled fixture must be played  within 28 days of the original date.

The Veterans League AGM will take place on Wednesday 24th June at Blackburn Leisure Club @7.30pm

If you have any proposals for rule changes please pass them onto your team Secretary by 7th June for discussion at the meeting.

Transfer deadline and new signings details along with Wildcard info

The transfer deadline for this season is next Friday 27th February 2026 at 5pm.

However clubs can still sign on players who have not played in the Veterans League this season until the end of the season.

Wildcards can only be used until Sunday 29th March 2026 . Given that 28 days notice has to be given, the last date they can be applied for is Sunday 1st March please note they cannot be used for Divisional Cup ties, which are taking place for the Premier and Divisions 2-6 inclusive on 22nd March and for the Over 50`s teams on 29th March

The draws for the Divisional Cup Quarter Finals have been made and are shown below.

You may have an outstanding or upcoming league game against the same opponents at the same venue and may wish  to consider playing a double header ie one x 90 minute game for a place in the semi finals and three league points. This will only happen if BOTH teams agree to do so.
